I feel that you're like that one cool wise older friend, who takes a role of edifier: not much time spending together like with common ''buddies'', but every meeting real great mind-changing speeches happen, which contain therapeutic effect and the conclusions are the exact same I've already guessed about, but the thoughts had been tangled with emotions meanwhile very transparent presence of clues leading to the answers, eventually leaving me in the fog.. and then after chatting this person just *Boom* spills fitting solutions (sounding and feeling like the the right path to lead mine thoughts and actions). I am very grateful to you, and in the moments like this I am happy about internet's existence, there are desperate times in each persons life when there is no congenial person around. After 5 years I got broken up with, then we got back together, got promised the world for 2 weeks and broken up with (over text too... then blocked.) again when I went away to see my parents for the summer. I feel very confused as to how he changed his attitude towards me so fast, where the lies and truth begin and end, and how am I going to rebuild my self identity. This video helped me a lot. It will be ok, and you're right, I need to stop abusing optimism as a coping mechanism and just accept that I'll be sad for a while. Whatever the future holds I won't compromise on boundaries again.

Hi! I'm 15 and to start off, I have bipolar I disorder. I was diagnosed at 14 and even before that, I have already feel like inadequate and really not good with time management, social skills, self-perception, and more. I have already watched self improvement videos at my young tween ages and that enough burnt out me even more because there is these so much things that I am missing out on. But, for my why, I want to feel stronger for myself, especially for this new found mental disorder, I want to sustain myself for the optimal condition, without giving myself unrealistic goals and ideas, so that I can have a better self-compassion and self-acceptance, by better taking care of my thoughts and emotions, understanding that life can also be better for me by doing it in my own way despite of my bipolar.

i'm 21 and though i've basically been stuck in a perpetual "quarter life crisis"* for the past 4 or so years, ever since i turned 20 i feel it's gotten a lot worse. it's become painfully clear how behind i am compared to other people my age. i've never dated, i can't drive, i don't know how to make friends, i don't have any hobbies that i genuinely enjoy, i've never had sex, i have no idea what career i want to go into after college--the list just goes on and on. i think about my future and i can't imagine anything except a blank void. i started making more of an effort to actually do things with my time instead of just laying in bed scrolling, but it's hard. i get tired and discouraged and sad so easily. even then, i know i have no choice but to just keep trying. hopefully i will have a life someday that i am happy to live. * sidenote: i recently discovered that this may actually just be depression! haha

I'd love to learn to let go more. Not everything is in my hands. I want to be more like water, flow with the stages of life and find out who I am and who I want to be in the meantime..

I'm a tourist but at 26 I wish someone would have told me to propose to my ex when I had the chance (I was financially unstable at the time but we was happy) (we both never moved on and are still good friends, we've never dated anyone else and sleep over at each others houses.) Stability is definitely something at my age I wish I had right now, don't wait til it's too late. Lock that shit in, in your 20s trust me.

As someone who is 29 (and only JUST NOW learning about the points you've made) I really wish I had known about this sooner. I wasted a good 4 years in university just cause my dad said to go when I was 19, and wasted another 4 years doing a degree I hate just cause I thought "may as well finish what I started" only to decide to go into a career that didn't need a degree at all. I really wasted all of my 20's, but now I'm trying to live the life I want. emphasis on "trying".

Oh! heres one from me too! Don't assume you don't have talent or you can't do something because someone else is already more talented or meant for it. Anyone can master anything and become anything at any age with enough practice and willpower. So setting up everyday habbits executing them on a daily basis will not only get you closer to the goal, but also feel more content with yourself. Its all about habits!
